About the Role
Metro City Public Schools seeks a passionate High School English Teacher to inspire students in grades 9-12. This role involves developing engaging lesson plans, fostering literacy skills, and contributing to our college preparatory program. Ideal candidates will champion diversity and promote critical thinking through literature.
Responsibilities
- Create standards-aligned curriculum for American/British literature courses
- Conduct formative and summative assessments
- Lead classroom management for 25-30 students
- Collaborate with special education staff on IEP accommodations
- Organize after-school writing workshops twice monthly
- Attend parent-teacher conferences and staff meetings
- Implement district-approved grading software
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English or Education
- State teaching certification (grades 7-12)
- 2+ years classroom experience (student teaching accepted)
- Familiarity with Common Core ELA standards
- Proficiency in Google Classroom
- Clear background check
- Spanish bilingual preferred
