About the Role
Join the City of Grand Rapids as a dedicated Road Crew Laborer. Maintain city infrastructure by performing essential roadside maintenance, landscaping, and safety inspections across our 61-mile street network.
Responsibilities
- Perform roadside mowing and weeding
- Clean catch basins and inspect drainage systems
- Report infrastructure defects to supervisors
- Load/unload snow plows and salt trucks
- Assist in asphalt patching of potholes
- Support road painting or re-striping projects
- Operate landscaping equipment and snowblowers
- Ensure cleanliness and public safety protocols
Requirements
- Minimum age 18
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and repetitive tasks
- Basic mechanical knowledge of outdoor machinery
- High school diploma or GED
- Pass pre-employment drug screening
- Ability to work irregular hours (seasonal needs)
- Basic first aid certification preferred
