About the Role
BrightStart Academy seeks a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support classroom activities in a K-5 setting. You’ll work closely with lead teachers to implement lesson plans and provide individualized attention to students. This role is crucial for maintaining an inclusive learning environment and fostering academic growth. Expect to assist with student supervision, material preparation, and classroom management.
Responsibilities
- Assist lead teacher with daily instructional activities
- Provide one-on-one support to students needing extra help
- Supervise students during recess, lunch, and transitions
- Prepare classroom materials and organize learning stations
- Assist with grading assignments and tracking student progress
- Support implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Maintain classroom cleanliness and organization
Requirements
- High school diploma required; Associate’s degree in Education preferred
- 1+ year experience working with children in educational setting
- Ability to pass background check and fingerprint clearance
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience and adaptability in dynamic classroom environments
- Basic understanding of child development principles
- CPR/First Aid certification (can be obtained after hire)
- Physical ability to engage with young children (standing, kneeling, light lifting)
