Job Description
About the Role
Work alongside dedicated special education teachers to support students with diverse learning needs. Assist in creating individualized education plans (IEPs) and facilitate meaningful engagement during lessons and activities.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of IEP goals
- Support students during small group instruction and individual activities
- Maintain classroom organization and daily routines
- Track student progress toward academic and behavioral objectives
- Communicate with parents during conferences
- Collaborate with therapists and outside service providers
- Facilitate classroom management strategies
- Assist in preparing materials and lesson plans
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
- 1+ years experience working with special needs students preferred
- Knowledge of behavior management and de-escalation techniques
- Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift and move students as needed with adaptive equipment
- Familiarity with special education teaching resources
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications helpful
