About the Role
Join Boston Public Schools as a Special Education Aide. This entry-level position provides critical support to special education teachers in classrooms. You’ll work directly with students with diverse learning needs to help them access the curriculum and achieve their goals.
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized support to students with IEPs
- Assist teacher with lesson preparation and classroom management
- Monitor student progress and document behavioral observations
- Help students with daily living skills and personal care
- Encourage social interaction during group activities
- Prepare classroom materials and maintain learning spaces
- Communicate daily updates to teachers and parents
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior experience with children preferred
- Basic understanding of special education principles
- Ability to follow teacher instructions
- Patience and empathy for children with special needs
- First Aid/CPR certification (can be obtained after hiring)
- Successful background check clearance
