About the Role
The Assistant Teacher will support our lead teacher in creating a positive learning environment for kindergarten students. You’ll assist with daily activities, manage classroom setups, and monitor student progress. This role focuses on individual attention and fostering a love of learning early.
Responsibilities
- Assist teacher with lesson preparations and daily classroom operations
- Support student learning through customized help during activities
- Maintain organized learning materials and classroom supplies
- Monitor student safety during playground and classroom activities
- Collaborate with lead teacher for progress tracking and reporting
- Facilitate small group activities under teacher supervision
- Engage families through regular communication about student milestones
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning speeds
Requirements
- High school diploma required or current pursuit of college education
- CDA certification or college credits in education preferred
- Previous volunteer or part-time experience in educational settings
- Clear FBI fingerprint background check for child supervision
- Strong interpersonal skills for positive student/family interactions
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs (classroom supplies/equipment)
- Reliable transportation for occasional off-campus events
- Flexibility to work full-time hours from 8 AM – 4 PM
