About the Role
The City Health Department seeks a Food Safety Inspector to protect public health through restaurant inspections and food service facility oversight. This critical role helps prevent foodborne illness by enforcing health codes and educating food establishment operators.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine facility inspections
- Enforce health code regulations
- Investigate consumer complaints
- Collect samples when needed
- Prepare inspection reports
- Provide operator education
- Monitor corrective actions
- Testify at hearings as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s in public health or related field
- Food safety certification required
- 2+ years inspection experience
- Knowledge of FDA Food Code
- Strong written communication skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work independently
