About the Role
Sunlight Academy is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs. The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for creating individualized education plans, providing instruction, and collaborating with parents and specialists to ensure optimal student outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Provide specialized instruction and support for students with disabilities
- Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed
- Collaborate with parents, specialists, and general education teachers
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Advocate for students’ needs within the school community
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field
- Valid state teaching certification in Special Education
- Strong knowledge of educational laws and regulations
- Experience with various teaching methods and assistive technologies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage classroom behavior and ensure a safe learning environment
