About the Role
Join the City of Miami’s Urban Planning Division as a City Planner. Collaborate on projects that enhance community spaces, infrastructure and zoning regulations. Develop strategic recommendations to improve land use policies and promote sustainable urban growth.
Responsibilities
- Conduct land use analyses and needs assessments for new developments
- Research best practices for urban design and sustainability initiatives
- Prepare zoning ordinance amendments and development proposals
- Collaborate with community leaders during public consultations
- Analyze socio-economic data to forecast population growth trends
- Monitor environmental impact assessments before zoning approvals
- Coordinate with architects and engineers on master plan integrations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning or related field
- 3+ years of experience in urban planning or municipal development
- Strong research, analytical and critical thinking skills
- Ability to synthesize complex data into actionable recommendations
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Proficient in GIS software and data visualization tools
- Current driver’s license and valid background check clearance
